Hi Friend. Welcome to the inner workings of my mind.
Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Julia, and I am first year Masters of Social Work student at the University of Michigan School of Social Work. When I first discovered social work, I instantly found my home, my niche and my passion. To me, it’s not just a career. It’s a commitment to improve the lives of others while combatting the systems that oppress and discriminate. Although my studies center around community organizing, I am interested in every facet of social work—from interpersonal practice to social policy and evaluation.
I want to use this blog as a space to reflect on issues of power and oppression in this country, while promoting social justice and community engagement. I hope that you will join me in that journey.
